Summary
Eduart Driscoll [ED] discusses the Welsh coal industry and the jobs he had on ships that sailed around the world. ED explains the different types of coal and why Welsh coal is the best for ships, then goes on to describe the work he did stoking coal on a Norwegian ship. ED tells stories about journeys he had to Australia, South America, and New York, where he met Lewis of the American Miners’ Union. ED describes the different jobs on a ship, such as cleaning sludge and the engine room, in great detail.
