- On Side One, Allen Milne [AM] discusses his experiences at the Butetown History and Arts Centre since becoming involved in November 1995. AM begins by discussing the various tasks he does as an assistant archivist under head archivist Molly Marr. [00:06:15] AM begins describing his research project into Cardiff’s Norwegian community from approximately 1860-1960. AM discusses the different types of artefacts that BHAC has collected as part of his project, as well as the centre’s financial support. [00:26:00] AM discusses the recent redevelopment of the bay and attitudes of local people towards the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation.
On Side two, Phyllis Grogan Chappel [PGC] describes her experiences working with the BHAC over the past four years. PGC gives an overview of the general tasks she has done with the centre, such as filing, typing, running messaging, and transcribing tapes. [00:03:30] PGC discusses the book she published about her experiences growing up in the bay in the 1930s. PGC discusses the past exhibitions put on by the BHAC, how the centre could be improved, and the politics of the BHAC being partially funded by the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation. The interview concludes with discussion of a community quilt project in the bay.
