- Side one begins with some of the interview with Mavis Jackson [MJ] who discusses some problems that have arisen between volunteers. At [00:03:00] the recording cuts to the interview with Marco Gil-Cervante [MGC]. MGC talks about his background in media studies and is asked about his roles in the BHAC, discussing running day to day operations and securing funding. The interviewer asks about the hierarchy of control in the BHAC and Glenn Jordan is mentioned, as well as archivist Molly Marr. MGC discusses some of the shortfalls of the steering committee and the decision-making system. The discussion ends on community issues surrounding the BHAC and how press coverage of the area is managed.
Side two is an interview with Mavis Jackson [MJ] who is interviewed on the same topics. MJ had been working with the BHAC for four years. MJ is asked how she came to be involved with the project and what her roles are which now include the internal letter and cataloguing followed by a general discussion of the BHAC. They talk about white and black communities and how some communities have reacted negatively to an exhibition by the BHAC. MJ is asked about problems with the organisation and whether it has fulfilled its goals as it has developed. Concerns are voiced over the increase in people who do not have a strong relation to the docks and perceived elitism, as well as internal problems such as complex bureaucracy. Problems between volunteers and lack of communication are discussed.
