A cargo ship which was built by William Gray & Co Ltd, West Hartlepool in 1943 as SS Empire Rival. Name changed to Amberton in 1948. Wrecked off Taiwan in 1967 after anchor chain broke in heavy weather.
As Empire Rival, landed troops and armoured cars after D-Day landings.
