- The packaged timber carrier Atlantic City arriving at BTDB's Newport Docks by night with a cargo of 29,000 tons of British Columbian Timber. The Atlantic City was the third vessel to use the new South Dock timber wharf, where she discharged 6000 tons of her cargo before going to Tilbury. With a beam of 95ft, the ship was the widest vessel ever to enter Newport's South Lock.
