- Description
- The Rainbow Club was started in a disused shop in Bute Street by a group of people connected with the Society of Friends. The Save the Children Fund accepted responsibility for the club in 1947. With a growing membership, new premises had to be found and in 1956 the Club moved to the former Soldiers and Sailors Rest at 246 Bute Street.
Over the years the Rainbow Club became a household word in Butetown, recognised as a place of friendship where children's needs are planned for, in a variety of ways, ranging from arts and crafts to music and games.
It was run for many years by Mr & Mrs Capener. - Type
